Port State Control

Many of IMO's most important technical conventions contain provisions for ships to be inspected when they visit foreign ports to ensure that they meet IMO requirements. Port State Control (PSC) is the inspection of foreign ships in national ports to verify that the condition of the ship and its equipment comply with the requirements of international regulations and that the ship is manned and operated in compliance with these rules. (source - http://www.imo.org/)

IMRRA regards PSC as a very important instrument in raising standards of Maritime Safety as well as it is an important parameter in the risk assessment process. 2,503 vessels were assessed by IMRRA in August 2017, among them 68 vessels with 522 deficiencies were recognized as vessels with poor results of PSC inspection (equal five or more deficiencies). Among these 68 vessels, seven were recognized with detention.

The table is based on vessels with poor PSC results (Oil/Chemical Tankers, LPG/LNG, OBO vessels - 68 vessels in total) that were screened, with the results demonstrating the ratio of recognized issues from the vessel's age.

IMRRA screened 2,503 vessels (127 357 162 DWT) during August.

IMRRA identified 575 vessels as operating with the risk upper than average risk rating on the website. August's highest vessel risk was 66%.

During August's screening process, IMRRA was notified 26 vessels (out of 2,503) were involved into incidents.

IMRRA evaluated 2,503 tanker vessels, aged 0-25 years with different deadweights (DWT) during August. The table demonstrates vessels with DWT from 20,000 to 50,000 mt, age 10-15 years were the most 'popular' traded. 5,000 DWT to 20,000 mt, aged 5-10 years were second. 50,000 to 150,000 mt, age 5-10 were third.
